Blessed Yule! Or at least it will be soon. You’ve probably heard this a million times already but it really does seem like the year flew by. I can’t believe we’re just two weeks away from the New Year. The cards match the typical energy for this year which is to reflect on what the past year has been like for you and what you want moving forward. Monday’s card especially invites you to pay attention to where your path is headed. New beginnings have been a regular theme in these readings and it continues this week. Not a surprise since that is the overall energy of the month.

We’ve received the first real “negative” card of the month. I say negative loosely because it doesn’t have to mean that however, this card does represent an abrupt change; good or bad. You can’t go on the way you have been. Something in your life needs a serious u-turn or things can become very bad very quickly. This is the fork in the road if you will. The moment when you can see how your current path is going to lead to something harmful to you but you’ve been given another choice. You can go down an alternate path and save yourself a lot of headache. Now this can manifest in so many ways and not just something physical. You may need to change your way of thinking or perhaps you need to bet on yourself for once instead of giving away your power. Or maybe you need to ask yourself new questions instead of coming back to the same ones. Again, this card can mean a lot of things but truthfully, I feel your perspective is what needs to change. You need to bet on yourself!

Ok back to happier cards with gingerbread man. This card actually presents happy times ahead and who doesn’t want that as we move into the fullscale holiday season? This card also represents fun so go ahead, bake or buy the cookies. Make hot chocolate with extra whipped cream and marshmallows. Let your kids open one present early or perhaps you buy yourself something special. Today is all about being silly and fun and enjoying the good energy of the holidays, knowing that at least for a little while, things are good. Probably the result of your u-turn yesterday. Because that’s what a change does, it reinvigorates you and allows fresh energy to fill up your spirit. Now, today is the day to sit back and enjoy your life and all the happiness that comes with it.

The assignment for today is to do something creative. You need a spark of fresh energy. Maybe this is the year you’ll finally try to make a gingerbread house or maybe you’ll go all out with wrapping gifts. Perhaps you’ll finally write the first chapter of a book or structure the oracle deck idea you’ve had in your mind for ages. It doesn’t really matter what it is just as long as you do something. You don’t have to be an expert or know every little detail to get started. This card is called ‘building blocks’ which means things will take time. You build a house by putting up one piece after another. You write a symphony one note at a time. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to make things perfect when the only path to perfection is going through the ups and downs. Get started on something today and let this journey take you wherever it needs to go. Remember that you don’t need to know the final destination or even the next step to take the first step.

Today’s card is all about tending to your home space. Many of the cards for this month have encouraged you to get out and spend time socializing. Well introverts, this one is for you because it guides you to turn inward and create your own sacred space. If you haven’t decorated, today is a great day to tackle that task. But if you aren’t into holiday cheer, then now might be a good time to spruce up your altar or tidy up the house. This card also represents home improvements which could include things like adding decor pieces that you love but also fixing little things like changing a lightbulb or calling a handyman to fix the door. Your home is your safe space so treat it with the respect it deserves and in return, it will be a safe haven for you to spend cozy nights in for years to come.

Sometimes you just need to splurge on yourself a bit. Live it up and celebrate just because you can. Life shouldn’t just be about paying the bills. You deserve something special from time to time too. It doesn’t have to be often but every once in a while, give yourself permission to be a little bit spoiled. Today seems like a perfect day. While you’re buying Christmas presents, make sure to buy yourself one too. If you need a reason why then look no further to everything you’ve done this past year. If you accomplished something, hit a milestone or frankly just because you made it through a challenging year, then you deserve something to bring a smile to your face. And don’t forget to look beyond the material as well. Treat yourself to a few quiet moments alone or to that extra cup of coffee. This card isn’t just about spending on yourself. It's about recognizing you’re worthy of living the high life too.

Blessed Yule! How fitting it is to have this card, also the month’s energy card, today on Yule. Yule is all about having hope for the future which by extension means new beginnings. And of course the new year is just around the corner when the world collectively thinks about what comes next. What does the new year hold for you? What seeds are you planting to ensure your happiness in the next 12 months? Now’s the time to think about these things. Today, write down some goals or ideas you have for what you’d like to call into your life. Use the powerful energy of Yule to let your mind wander to new possibilities and hold that vision as you move throughout the rest of the year. And remember from the monthly reading that new doesn’t have to mean grand. I mentioned signing up for Sommelier classes even though I have no interest in pursuing it as a career. I did it because it makes me happy and sometimes that’s all a new beginning needs to be.

Today is all about choices so be mindful as you move throughout your day. Don’t rush into anything without thinking it through. You very well could make a choice that could change your life in an impactful way. Holly is sometimes associated with moral integrity and when we think of this card from that perspective, the card then represents making choices aligned with your values. Choosing the option that doesn’t force you to compromise who you are or what you believe in is always a good choice. That isn’t to say there won’t be consequences as every choice has pros and cons but at least you won’t give up a piece of yourself. Authenticity is one of the few things you can truly own in this life so be mindful you aren’t giving it away, especially to someone who is willing to compromise you for their personal gain.
