It's the last month of 2024 and wow, what a year it's been. It's time to start thinking about how your year has been and preparing for the next year to come. It's as if the universe is trying to help you out with these cards. So much of this reading is about taking back your power and recognizing just how much of your life you can change if you want. Or, how much of your life doesn’t need to mirror other’s opinions. You can be ambitious or not, outlandish or not and frankly, that’s totally up to you to decide and no one else.

The last couple of months have been about embracing a new beginning and here is the same. Pay attention as you’re being prepared for something different than what you know now. Something that will drastically change you or the way you look at life. There’s no promise that it will be good, at least not at first but it's what you need to get to the next level. So don’t dismiss your feelings in the coming weeks. The messages are there for you, you just need to pay attention to them.

November 25 - Dec 1

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” - Carl Bard

Overall Energy: Acorn - Starting something new; planting seeds for the future

This month’s energy card is very similar to last month as they both point to new beginnings. More specifically, pushing yourself to start something new for you to feel good about where your life is headed. And know that it doesn’t have to be something grand like starting a new business. There’s been so much talk over the past ten years or so about being your own boss and starting your own thing. And I fully admit, I have pushed this advice for years myself but if you’re anything like me, you’re probably tired of hearing the same old stuff. Things like start the business, travel, move, take a chance on a relationship: we get it!

What happened to the days when things didn’t feel like so much pressure? If you want to start a new business AND you feel ready to do so then yes, this card can absolutely mean that. But let’s not forget about other nascent paths to fulfillment. New can come in simple forms too. Maybe you’re giving yourself permission to start reading a book series or binging a new tv show. I’m currently starting Midsommer Murders from the very beginning and if anyone is familiar with the show, you’ll know just how long of a journey I’m in for. Another thing I’m doing: signing up to get my sommelier certification. I have zero plans of becoming a professional sommelier, I’m just doing this to expand upon something I care deeply about.

These things are solely for my enjoyment and while maybe not productive or facilitating a business venture or path to abundance, they bring me joy. Joy IS wellness. You’re investing in yourself by doing things that make you excited just as much as signing up for that retreat or starting that business. Plant seeds for what feels good for you, whatever that looks like. And maybe that’s the deeper lesson: starting a new beginning when your life doesn’t have to mirror anyone else’s for it to feel valuable.

What will enhance my physical well-being?

Four of Wands

You need a reset. You need some time to stop and reflect on just how far you’ve come and more than that, to celebrate your milestones. Acknowledge what you’ve accomplished even if it feels like very little. Enjoy what you’ve done. Doing so isn’t selfish or irresponsible. Quite the opposite actually because you can’t keep pushing and pushing and pushing. Or you can but eventually you’ll push too hard for too long and you’ll be forced to slow down. And in doing that, everything you’ve worked so hard to build might fall apart. This happened to me two years ago. I worked myself into the ground out of fear I would lose everything and you know what, I lost it all anyway. I didn’t give myself time to celebrate all that I had done and to reflect on what I needed moving forward. I just kept charging ahead, not even caring where I was going just as long as I was still moving forward. That isn’t enough.

That’s why we have things like graduations and funerals, weddings and job reviews. These breaks in the journey give us time to say ‘Look at all I've done. Do I want to keep going? Was all of this worth it? What do I need in the next part of my life to feel like I’m on the right path? What parts of this past journey do I take with me? What do I let go of?”

And taking time to do that is anything but selfish and irresponsible. It would be irresponsible to let yourself live a life that you hate with people who think you’re happy, only to blow things up later on. When you could’ve been honest with yourself and with those around you from the start, releasing everyone to find the path that’s best for each of you. And you know what happens when you live your truth, you give yourself a path to release a lot of stress. You can exhale, finally letting go of all the ways you haven’t lived your truth. Stress breaks the body down and you may not realize it but every time you make a choice that takes you further away from your true self, you store that energy in the body. It will eventually come out one way or another and usually it’s the way that’s so destructive, you have no other choice but to pay attention.

How can I cultivate mental health and strength?

Six of Cups

The six of cups invites you to reconnect with your inner child. I know, that sounds so abstract but what I mean is to think back to the dreams you had when you were a kid. What did you want to be? Was it a chef, an astronaut, a clown or a singer? We all have these types of dreams as a kid but somewhere along the way, someone tells us these dreams aren’t realistic or you’re told to grow up and think about a real future. So those dreams slowly wither away until they become faint memories. But here’s the thing, nothing about those childhood dreams were unrealistic. There’s a reason why you wanted to be a painter or a dancer or a superhero and you were supposed to explore those dreams until you figured out how they could manifest for you.

Now, you get to decide how realistic your plans are. You get to choose which path feels best for you and you’re old enough to fight for it. To say “this is my dream and I have every right to have it and pursue it. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to agree with it, but you have to accept it.” Mental strength is not about finding a way to make others agree with you, it’s about finding something that you love so much that you can deal with whatever comes your way. Or that you’re doing something that you know helps you so that when things don’t work out the way you want, you still feel motivated to keep going. And there’s no better way to keep pushing forward than by doing the things that truly light you up inside. Usually, that’s something you loved as a kid so that’s a great place to start.

What aspects of my spiritual practice should I focus on?

Five of Swords

The five of swords represents a lose-lose situation which is often a result of trying too hard to get your point across. And do you know why most people do that? Because they’re afraid of being hurt, or overlooked, or some form of past wound gets triggered and you go into defense mode. Suddenly, you’re arguing about things you don’t really care about or you’re getting upset about something that isn’t that big of a deal.

This month, your spiritual focus should be on figuring out which battles you need to fight and which ones you need to let go of. Sometimes people don’t agree, that doesn’t mean they can’t be in your life. Sometimes people do things you don’t like but that doesn’t mean it's your responsibility to fix them. You don’t have to be your friend’s and family’s guru or guide or advisor. Maybe it doesn’t need to be your job to fix your family’s karmic debt or raise the vibration of your friends, especially not if your efforts irritate others or isolate you.

In what ways can I support my emotional well-being?

Ten of Cups

The ten of cups for this question guides you to find your inner safe haven. To know that you’re ok darling. The other shoe isn’t going to drop. You don’t have to be afraid that someone’s coming after you or that you have so much healing to do. You don’t need to heal. I repeat, you don’t need to heal. You’re perfectly ok just as you are. We need to cut out that word healing and replace it with growth. Healing suggests you’re sick or broken whereas growth represents having more than you did before. If you’re struggling with something, your task isn’t to heal but to expand your ability to hold or do more. Maybe you need to have more joy instead of anger or you need to expand your idea of what’s possible for you instead of being jealous. But here’s the thing, that jealously is teaching you something. It's a sign letting you know this is an opportunity for you to evolve. Being jealous or angry or sad doesn’t mean something’s wrong with you. It just means you get to learn how to change your narrative and you know what, if it happens again, you’ll know what to do. That sounds like growth to me.

The first step is realizing that you’re ok, even when there’s things about yourself you want to work on. Let yourself be happy. Not because you have everything you want or because you feel like you have all of the answers. Let yourself be happy because it’s your choice to choose happiness. To say ‘I’m ok’ and keep saying it until you actually feel that way.

How can I be the most authentic version of myself and stay aligned with my values?

King of Wands

Don’t dismiss how much control you have over your life. There are plenty of things in life you can’t control like what others do or think or the state of world affairs. But there’s also plenty of things that are well within your power to control or change. You can decide how you feel or how you want to feel. You can change how you look, what you do in life, where you live and for how long. You change the people you spend your time with or what you’re willing to put up with. The problem isn’t that you can’t control things, it's accepting that choices come with consequences.

Yes, you could change something about yourself but you’ll have to take responsibility when things don’t go your way. That’s what makes change scary so we humans invent stories and excuses about why we can’t do something because that feels easier. I can’t change my job because what if I don’t find another one? I can’t cut them out of my life because we have too much history. I can’t lose weight because I’ll be hungry all of the time or it takes too long for my muscles to stop hurting. None of these statements are true. It may be challenging to do what you want, it may take time and you may have to sacrifice something to get what you want but at the end of the day, you can change if you decide the ends are worth the means.
