Tulsi Chamomile Moon Milk

I made this moon milk to compliment the newly released Moon Milk candle here at Spirit Element. I knew that I wanted to share it when I started making it but I have come to really enjoy the flavor and the soothing effects. Usually I drink a cup of tea at night but have been switching out tea with this drink lately which is ultimately what inspired the Peacefully Grounded sleep ritual which you can find inside the Pretty Rituals Membership.

1 teas. Dried Chamomile or one chamomile tea bag

1 teas. Dried Holy basil, Vana

2 oz boiled water

6-8 oz Oat milk or milk of your preference

1 teas Ashwagandha powder

½ teas Cinnamon powder

Few dtops Vanilla extract

Honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar to taste

Steep the holy basil and chamomile in the boiled water for ten minutes to make a strong infusion, then strain the herbs from the liquid. Pour the liquid into your cup or mug and set aside.

Meanwhile, warm the milk on low but do not boil it. You want it hot enough to be comforting but not scalding. Remove milk from heat then whisk in ashwagandha, cinnamon, vanilla extract and sweetener.

Pour milk mixture into your mug of tea and stir gently to combine.

Enjoy!

Please note, I really like the Vanilla Oat milk from target which I have found sweet enough to skip the vanilla extract and extra sweetener. Play around with different milks and adjust to your taste.

Holy Basil - A wonderful adaptogen for maintaining well-being, clarity, harmony and balance. It has a calming effect on the body, making it ideal for evening rituals. It is also commonly used for meditation and prayer in India. In Chinese medicine, holy basil or tulsi as it’s sometimes called supports the Shen or what we’d call the spirit.

I used and generally prefer holy basil Vana but feel free to use whichever holy basil you like the most or what is accessible.

Ashwagandha - a wonder adaptogen that helps to reduce stress when taken regularly. That’s because it helps to regulate hormones, including hormones that increase stress and anxiety. When take overtime, ashwagandha may help you to better manage stressful situations, before anxiety can spin out of control. Aside from stress management, ashwagandha also helps to increase overall energy levels and vitality.

Please do not use ashwagandha if you have or think you might have lupus, multiple sclerosis, or rheumatoid arthritis and be sure to consult your doctor if you are taking any medications or have any conditions that may react poorly with this ingredient. Also, this is a nightshade so take caution if you are allergic to other types of nightshades.

Chamomile - a common ingredient for more restful sleep and reducing stress.

Cinnamon - antioxidant rich and immunity boosting but mostly, its warm and delicious and and brings a balance in flavor.
