Rosemary Sage Hair Rinse
I had a pretty terrible health scare recently. I’m still kind of in the middle of it but my doctor seemed pretty confident I have nothing to worry about. I was however, a nervous wreck leading up to the appointment. I immediately thought of all the ways this could go downhill but I also thought about all of the ways I wasn’t taking care of myself. I won’t go too deep just yet, especially not for an article on a hair rinse. My point is that, I was suddenly faced with the reality that I needed to invest in myself.
I talk about self-care a lot around here and I do have things that I do regularly but I would be lying if I said I was truly showing up for myself the way that I should be or the way that I ask you to do it. And while a hair rinse might not be the grandest gesture, it feels like a good place to start. All steps, even baby ones, are good steps.
I used to do hair rinses religiously, every week but you know how it is. Life gets in the way and things start to hit the back burner. My hair was the healthiest it had ever been when I was doing regular rinses so I decided to add it back to my weekly routine. This is the one I’m using for the summer. I’ve used it here and there over the years but after the past few weeks, I have committed myself to being the season I truly make myself a priority.
1-2 tables of rosemary
1 teaspoon each: sage, horsetail, fenugreek seeds

1 tbls. Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (omit if you don’t want to rinse out)
5 drops rosemary essential oil
5 drops sage essential oil
Directions:
Pour boiling water over herbs and allow to steep until the mixture has reached room temperature. Add oils and vinegar and mix well. Dip the ends of hair into the mixture then pour the remaining liquid over scalp and massage, working liquid through the strands of hair. Cover hair with a plastic cap or warm towel and sit for 15 minutes then rinse and style as usual.
