Eight Pretty Powerful Things
It’s been an exciting but also challenging week. I’m so thankful seeing all of the comments about my book, The Witch’s Apothecary. Many of you are already loving it and I can’t wait to see more videos and photos. But at the same time, the universe has really been testing my patience and triggering me a lot this week. I know that it's ultimately for my spiritual evolution and I’m doing my best to stay grounded and let the lessons usher me to a new level of being. But I won’t lie, things are starting to pile on a bit but I am learning that sadness and happiness can and often do exist within the same space and that you can be moving forward while also traveling backwards.
That’s why I wanted to start this series. I have so much to share and give including all of the wonderful things I’m offering in the coming months. But at the same time, I want you to see the more vulnerable side of teaching spirituality. I’m not going to get it right all of the time but I believe that actively trying to grow and still making mistakes are a hell of a lot better than giving up.
So here are the 8 things that helped me evolve, changed my perspective, encouraged me to focus more on self-care or inspired me this week. In addition to new offerings I’m excited to share.
1.Book Launch
I wrote a book! The Witch’s Apothecary officially releases tomorrow. Inside this beautiful, full color book, you will find over 100 magical, mystical ritual potion recipes for the Wheel of the Year to make everything from sprays and lotions to drinks and even edible cookie dough!
In addition to recipes, I’ve offered an entire section on how to turn your own magical intentions into ritual potions and brews. Whether you’re wanting to start your own magical store or just want to make things for you, your family and your friends. This book will help you to create your own line of mystical potions.
Be sure to leave a review if you buy the book. Freebies and bonuses start rolling out this week for confirmation of reviews on the books.
2. Pretty Rituals Membership
The Witch’s Apothecary got an upgrade. I wanted a membership that wasn’t just about apothecary but about holistic spiritual evolution and self-care. So I’ve updated the portal to Pretty Rituals and I just loaded April Ritual potions.
Now your membership includes brand new rituals every month in addition to ritual potions. These potions and rituals go hand in hand to help you unlock more freedom, self-love and to empower you to be more YOU!
You’ll also find monthly tarot readings, astrological guidance, and moon energy in addition to energetic profiles and ingredients to use for your favorite intentions.
April potions and rituals are live!
3.Seasons of the Witch: Beltane Oracle
Time to break out the best-selling Beltane Oracle. This deck continues to be the most popular deck in the series and channels the energy of love, passion, creativity, desire, and fun. You can use this deck anytime but it is at its most powerful in the weeks leading up to Beltane.
4.Spiritual Overwhelm
Struggling with spiritual overwhelm? Feeling like you have too many things to keep up with everyday, week or month? Like saging, protecting, moon magic and astrology, numerology and tarot, yoga and breathwork, meditation, healing, journaling and so on?
All of these are beautiful practices but they can be a lot sometimes, especially when the everyday responsibilities of life are equally overwhelming.
Check out my blog post on Pretty Powerful Things to get my tips for dealing with spiritual overwhelm.
5.Free Recipe of the Month: Magnolia Bark Hair Growth Conditioner
Here is this month’s free recipe. This one is from my new book, The Witch’s Apothecary. Hair care was the very first thing I started making when I got serious about developing beauty and self-care recipes. I love finding and using unusual ingredients and this shampoo utilizes dried Magnolia bark. It isn’t a regular grocery store ingredient but you can find it with a quick search online.

6.Favorite Book: Everything is Here to Help You by Matt Kahn
I bought this book a long time ago and put it on the shelf with the dozens of other books I’ve bought but haven’t read. The soul always knows what you need, even if it doesn’t make sense at the moment and man did I need this book right now. I intuitively selected a book out of the ones I haven’t read and this one was it and is changing my life.
Kahn talks about how even life’s obstacles, challenging emotions like jealousy and anger, and toxic relationships are here to aid you in your spiritual evolution. I was already feeling this way after ending a toxic friendship several months ago. While it was hard, I knew ultimately there was a lesson there for me and that ending the relationship, I was setting us both free.
Reading this book felt like confirmation that what I felt was valid because let’s face it, it's nice to say we don’t need validation from others but it's also really nice to have it too. But beside that, this book really helped me to shift my perspective of “negative” situations. I can’t wait to read it again and I highly recommend it.
7.Spiritual Lessons I’ve learned this week
The Power of Resentment
“Resentment is a subtle form of jealousy toward those who demonstrate more freedom of will than we allow ourselves to express.; Resentment is an unexpected liberator that shows me the areas of my life where I hold back from expressing my freedom of will at full capacity.”
- Matt Kahn
These statements are probably the biggest takeaways from Kahn’s book, mentioned above. Reading the section on resentment made me realize that I wasn't resenting anyone because they did anything wrong, I’m resenting them because I failed to show up for myself. Whereas they have been able to show up for themselves in a way that I could not in the past.
And instead of being angry or upset that someone is doing better than me even if I believe I am a harder worker, more talented, or overlooked, I need to take responsibility for sacrificing my goals and needs in an attempt to help someone else reach theirs.
No one is responsible for improving my life but me. I can’t blame someone else for shining their light more than I have allowed myself to shine mine. I am now “practicing” viewing resentment as an opportunity to better understand where I need to support myself more and take action on things that are important to me.
Feeling Discouraged and Personally Attacked
Even though my book comes out tomorrow (April 17th), Amazon has been shipping it for almost two weeks now. I was so excited until last weekend when I saw a 1 star review that had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the book but a formatting issue with Amazon. But Amazon’s algorithm doesn’t take responsibility for their issue, instead, they see the review and the algorithm thinks, hey this book must be bad. Better stop promoting it!
And I was gutted for days because reviews like that can really hurt creators like me. But in my anger, I found some awareness and discovered several ways to rebound when I’m feeling discouraged and even personally attacked.
Ultimately, these things happen to help you grow and I am thankful for what I learned in this situation, even if I’d rather avoid it.
What To Do When You Feel Discouraged Or Personally Attacked.
8.Ingredient Spotlight: Coffee
We all know and love coffee but did you know that it corresponds to Mars, which is the ruling planet of Aries? Drinking coffee during Aries season is a wonderful way to increase your Aries energy if you are someone who struggles with getting motivated and needs a little jolt of energy.
However, it's better to avoid coffee if you are feeling overstimulated, aggressive, and burning out easily. These could all be signs that you are experiencing an overabundance of Mars and/or Aries energy and should balance with Libra or Venusian energy instead.
Try Venusian Beauty Water, one of the ritual recipes loaded for April in the Pretty Rituals Member Portal. Click here to enroll or sign in.
Coffee also corresponds to grounding and is a very earthly ingredient, despite being a stimulant. You can work with the coffee grounds without drinking. Some excellent ways to use coffee for grounding are:
Take a coffee bath by adding 1 or 2 cups to bathwater
Make a scrub
Add a few drops of green or roasted coffee essential oil to a diffuser
Use coffee baked goods like brownies or chocolate cake
Mix coffee with potting soil and do some gardening. Coffee is beneficial to many plants.
